I would like to take a moment to express my gratitude for this opportunity to represent you on the NASW Michigan Chapter Board. I am a recent BSW graduate of Madonna University's distance learning program and am honored by this experience. I live in Gaylord, and travel extensively throughout our region. I am currently a case manager for NEMCSA's Region 9 Area Agency on Aging, Nursing Facility Transition Initiative, and prior I was the Housing Specialist in Otsego County.
My goal during this term is to increase membership and expand networking opportunities for our region; but I cannot do this alone. After reviewing the region member list I was pleased to recognize many names, and excited to see that there are many more members than I was aware of. Please encourage friends and colleagues that were past members to rejoin, or any new SW's you may encounter. We have excellent BSW and MSW degree programs available in Northern Michigan and our profession is forever growing. I will be speaking to those programs in the fall to encourage student membership.
I am willing to continue meeting on the second Monday of each month at different locations throughout the region, if it what,YOU, as members would like. I have included a link to a short survey to better judge the availability of our region members. Please take a moment to complete this. If there is another deciding factor in your decision to attend an informal dinner/meeting please let me know.
That being said I will keep the August 15th meeting and will ask everyone to come to Gaylord. We normally meet at 600 pm at BJ's restaurant. 990 N Center Ave, Gaylord MI. Please RSVP as soon as you can via email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or text @ 989-350-3156.
